Mountain View Microcabin, Washington

Location: Darrington
Bedrooms:
1
Beds: 1
Sleeps: 2
Bathrooms: 1 (Outhouse)
Perks: The entire wall opens up to fresh air!

If you love a solid dose of nature but want the luxury of a comfortable bed, this glamping cabin is for you! The wood stove is super vibey and is also your heat source in the colder months. We’re glamping here, so there’s no electricity, wifi, running water, etc. The idea is to be immersed in nature with a few comforts like complimentary coffee and creamer (heck, yes), battery powered lights, an open-air outhouse (flushing toilet), and a sun shower. You may have a few neighbors in the private campground during the summer months, but they’re not visible from the cabin. In the winter, you may even have the whole campground to yourself!

Bedrooms: Studio
Beds: 1
Sleeps: 2
Bathrooms: 1
Dog friendly: No
Perks: Wood burning hot tub, forest bathing, nearby beach.

Get cozy and experience the magic that’s Vashon Island with a stay at the Wolf Den! This tiny house is the perfect home base. From here, you can visit the island’s many beaches (Lisabuela is only a 5-minute drive away and an epic spot to catch sunset!), sip on a latte from Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie (just down the street), pick up local goods from the many farm stands, and shop the boutiques in town.

From complimentary local coffee to a freshly baked olive loaf and a hunk of local cheese, Dawn–the owner–added so many thoughtful touches to make the Wolf Den cozy, welcoming, and a true relaxing getaway. The kitchen has a mini fridge, electric kettle, toaster, and microwave, along with a few essentials, and a BBQ outside on the spacious deck.

Up the ladder you’ll find a full-size, comfortable bed. Outside? That’s my favorite part. The two-person wood burning hot tub takes some time and attention to heat, but once toasty, you’ll get to relax to the sound of owls and a forest view.

Don’t miss this island getaway! It was definitely the escape I needed.

Timber Stilts Treehouse Cabin: Cabins in Washington State

Timber Stilts Treehouse Cabin

Location: Roslyn
Bedrooms:
2
Beds: 2
Sleeps: 6
Bathrooms: 1
Dog friendly: No
Perks: Hot tub, vibey hanging central fireplace, raparound deck.

Truly one of a kind, the Timber Stilts Treehouse is built into the hillside with the front perched high above the ground on–you guessed it–stilts. It’s a cool sight and an even cooler stay. The interior? Absolutely stunning with its modern Scandinavian-inspired furnishings and a rustic, cedar cabin aesthetic. The kitchen is fully stocked (it’s as if the owners made it comfortable to live in for themselves and left all the kitchen supplies and spices for renters after them!) My favorite part is the fireplace, bright red and suspended fro the ceiling, it made my jaw fall all the way to the floor when I stepped passed that threshold for the first time!

But the true adventure kicks in come winter when the neighborhood roads close with the snow, and visitors get to hike or snowmobile in! It’s a 15-min walk but def a workout. The good news is, there’s a neighborhood taxi that offers rides on a heated SxS on tracks with room for 4 plus luggage for $25. You can also rent snowmobiles if you’d rather go that route!

Nearby, check out the historic logging town of Roslyn with so many cool gems–don’t forget to swing by! Coffee, books, brews, and an old jail-turned-pub awaits!

Bedrooms:
1
Beds: 1
Sleeps: 3
Bathrooms: 1
Dog friendly: No
Perks: Hot tub, forest bathing, eco-friendly, river access.

An A-frame in the trees?! I know. I also said “I HAVE to stay there” when I stumbled upon this property. It’s a true treehouse, suspended 13’ above the ground with the help of three sturdy trees, and offers the dreamiest place for a little forest bathing. I could’ve stared at those mossy trees through the massive windows forever. Walk in to find a beautiful bathroom with heated floors, a fireplace, futon, and a full kitchen. Climb the ladder to find a comfy king-size bed in the loft and views of the trees above through skylights. Out front, there’s a deck with two Adirondacks, perfect for taking in the forest with a cup of coffee.

Walk the property (the other houses here are also owned by Index Cabins) to find the river–go for a cold plunge and run back to the hot tub on the ground level to warm up! There’s also a fire pit down here too!

Drive just a few minutes down the road Index. Rock climbers–you’ll love this town! It’s also got an adorable cafe called the River House. Swing by for a latte if you have time!

Sleeps: 8-10
Bathrooms: 1 (Outhouse)
Perks: Ski-in, ski-out + epic view

There are five Rendezvous Huts of various sizes (typically sleeping 8-10 people) in the network, and each is equipped with a full kitchen, a wood burning stove heater and fuel, sleeping pads, propane lights, and an outhouse. The Cassal Hut (pictured here) is the most remote of them all and offers a killer view too! (Photos were taken in summer.)

Huts are reservable year-round, but public day-use is encouraged, so they're great for meeting new people who share your same stoke for the great outdoors. Bring a warm sleeping bag, start a fire, and dive into a provided board game. It’s a gonna be a great night.
